abc biopply revolutionises the use of 3D cultures in HTS

Easy Mass Production of Uniform and Homogenous Organoids for Predictive Disease Modelling


abc biopply has overcome one of the major hurdles in successfully applying 3D cell culture to HTS screening processes. Its 3D CoSeedis™ platform is the first standardised tool to mass produce spheroids in a highly homogenous and uniform manner. Furthermore, all spheroids are feeding into current HTS-processes in SBS 384-well plates and can therefore be integrated in today’s screening protocols without any further adaptations.
In collaboration with Union Biometrica, Inc., abc biopply has just released a white paper that demonstrates convincingly the advantages of 3D CoSeedis™ as a mass production platform for 3D spheroids. The 3D CoSeedis™ Chip680 is thereby ideally suited to produce thousands of spheroids in a fully upscalable way. It’s based on a 24-well plate format for aggregation, growth and harvesting and the resulting spheroid suspension is used to seed 384-well plates with individual spheroids using Union Biometrica’s large particle sorter. The resulting 384-well plates contain viable and uniform spheroids in more than 98% of all the wells and show minimal size variability from one plate to another. 3D CoSeedis™ thereby helps to decrease screening failure rates and consequently increases overall screening efficiency.
3D CoSeedis™ comprises a family of chips suited for various amounts of 3D constructs. They range from 200 spheroids (3D CoSeedis™ Chip200) to 880 spheroids per chip (3D CoSeedis™ Chip880), both in 6-well plate format, and also include a version for 680 spheroids per chip (3D CoSeedis™ Chip680) for 24-well plates. Chips can either be purchased in single packages or in bulk.
